Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 30, 2026
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Formaticum LLC ("Formaticum," "we," "us," or "our") has imported professional-grade cheese packaging and tools from Europe since 2006 and distributes them to customers worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.formaticum.com or buy from us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We believe electronic privacy is crucial to the ongoing success of the Internet. We know you care about how information about you is collected, used, and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will handle it carefully and sensibly. We treat your personal information — especially payment information — with the highest standards of safety, security, and confidentiality.
The Short Version
- We do not sell or rent your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.
- We do rely on a small number of service providers — a payment processor, our e-commerce platform, shipping carriers, our email and SMS platform — who handle data only to do specific work for us and nothing else.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing email or text messages at any time, and you can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.
- Questions? Email hello@formaticum.com.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information without your knowledge. The information we hold falls into two groups: what you give us, and what is recorded automatically when you use the site.
Information you provide to us
- Order information. When you order from the Formaticum online store, we collect your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and payment card information. Your payment card information is used only as needed to process your transaction.
- Account information. If you create a customer account, we keep your contact details and order history so you can sign in and review past purchases.
- Marketing sign-ups. If you join our email list or opt in to text messages, we record your email address or mobile number and the fact that you consented.
- Wholesale and trade inquiries. If you contact us as a business, we may collect your company name, role, resale certificate, and related business details.
- Correspondence. When you email, call, or text us with a question, we keep the message and our reply so we can help you and refer back to it later.
Information collected automatically
Each time a visitor comes to formaticum.com, information is collected to help us improve the overall quality of our site. This includes your domain name or IP address, referral data (for example, the address of the last page you viewed before clicking through to our site), and your browser and platform type (for example, the Safari browser on a Mac). We also count, track, and aggregate visitor activity as part of our analysis of general traffic flow — such as where traffic comes from and how it moves through the site.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like nearly every online store, our site uses cookies — small text files stored by your browser. We use them in three ways:
- Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working. They remember what is in your cart, keep you signed in, secure your session at checkout, and record your cookie preferences. The site cannot function properly without these.
- Analytics cookies help us understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, how visitors move through the site, and whether something is broken. Our e-commerce platform sets first-party cookies for this purpose.
- Advertising cookies may be set by advertising platforms if we are running a campaign, so we can measure whether an ad led to a visit or a sale.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them, though blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the store. Where a cookie banner is presented to you, your choices there govern the analytics and advertising categories.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- process, fulfill, and deliver your order, and handle returns or exchanges;
- send you an order confirmation and shipping updates;
- contact you if we have a question about your order — for example, we may call to verify your payment card information on a large purchase, which we do for your protection;
- answer your questions and provide customer support;
- send you marketing email or text messages, if you have opted in;
- reach you with important non-promotional notices, including product recalls;
- understand and improve how our site and product range perform;
- detect and prevent fraud, and keep the store secure;
- meet our tax, accounting, customs, and other legal obligations.
Data Sharing
- Customer data is not shared with 3rd parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
- Mobile opt-in and consent are never shared with anyone for any purpose. Any information sharing that may be mentioned elsewhere in this policy excludes mobile opt-in data.
Formaticum LLC Messaging Terms and Conditions
- The messaging program consists of general conversational messaging to answer questions and provide support to customers, promotional offers or discounts, any promotion of your products/services.
- You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text 'STOP' to the phone number from which you received messages. After you send the SMS message 'STOP' to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
- If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at hello@formaticum.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency will vary based on communication needs. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
- If you have any questions regarding privacy, please read our privacy policy contained in the rest of this document/page.
Service Providers Who Work on Our Behalf
We are a small company and rely on a handful of established providers to run the business. Sharing information with them is not the same as sharing it with third parties for their own purposes: each one may use your information only to perform the service we have engaged them for, and is required to protect it.
- Our e-commerce platform, which hosts the store and processes orders.
- Payment processors, which handle your card details to complete your purchase. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own systems.
- Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, which need your name, address, and phone number to deliver your order, and customs information for international shipments.
- Our email and SMS platform, which delivers order notifications and, where you have opted in, marketing messages.
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, where necessary for tax and bookkeeping.
Beyond these providers, Formaticum never shares, sells, or rents your personal information. The only exceptions are where we are required to disclose it by law — for example, in response to a court order, subpoena, or lawful government request — or where we need to do so to protect our legal rights or someone's safety. Internally, information you submit is available only to employees who need it for order fulfillment, order status updates, customer support, or extending promotional offers.
Email Communications
Formaticum gives you the opportunity to opt in to and opt out of receiving email from us. These choices are offered when you sign up for our email lists and in the messages we send. For any list managed by Formaticum, you can unsubscribe using the link in the footer of most email messages, or by emailing us.
Whether you opt in to or out of receiving marketing communications, we reserve the right to send you non-promotional communications without offering the option to opt out. This includes order confirmations, shipping notices, and safety notices such as product recalls.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep information only as long as we have a reason to:
- Order and transaction records are retained for as long as required by tax, customs, and accounting rules — generally seven years.
- Customer account information is kept while your account is active. Ask us and we will close it.
- Marketing list membership is kept until you unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe we retain the minimum record needed to make sure we do not contact you again by mistake.
- Customer service correspondence is typically kept for up to three years.
- Website analytics data is aggregated and retained in that form; it is not tied to your name.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Privacy laws differ from place to place, and some grant rights only to residents of particular states or countries. We think that is a poor way to treat customers, so we extend the following rights to everyone who buys from us or visits our site, wherever you live:
- Access. Ask us what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correction. Ask us to fix information that is wrong or out of date.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it — for example, invoices we must retain for tax purposes.
- Opt out of marketing. Unsubscribe from email using the link in any marketing message, or text STOP to end text messages.
- Portability. Ask for your information in a portable format.
- No sale of your data. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing for you to opt out of on that front.
- No discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will never affect the price you pay or the service you receive.
To make a request, email hello@formaticum.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act — usually by verifying details of a recent order — and we aim to respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU, the UK, or another region with a data protection authority, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local regulator, though we would appreciate the chance to resolve the matter with you first.
International Customers and Data Transfers
Formaticum is based in the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed there and in other countries where our service providers operate. If you are ordering from the EU, the UK, Canada, Australia, or elsewhere outside the United States, your information will be transferred to the United States, where data protection laws differ from those in your home country. When we transfer information from the EU or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, in our agreements with our providers. Placing an order with us means your details are transferred so that we can fulfill it.
How We Protect Your Information
Our store runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and payment card details are transmitted directly to our payment processor rather than being stored on our own systems. Access to customer information is limited to the employees who need it to do their jobs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but if a breach ever affected your personal information, we would notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Children's Privacy
Our products are professional tools intended for adults, and our store is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email hello@formaticum.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time — in response to changes in law, in our practices, or in the providers we use. Revisions take effect when posted on this page, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you directly. We encourage you to visit this page periodically to review the current policy.
